A Student’s Progression

OK, here’s a couple quick posts I’ve been meaning to make. At you in short order…

First off, right before heading off to NCECA, I spent a few hours on the wheel with a clay beginner. I thought they did really well for quick off the bat (pardon the pun) progress. Here are their first three pots, start to finish, left to right. Something about this progression inspired me to whip out the camera phone.

I like the idea of being part of a chain of knowledge, and paying homage to my teachers by helping to forge the next link. Sounds hoky, but kinda cool when you think this is a clay continuum that goes back perhaps 10,000 years.
